How can I protect myself from CHIP and its consequences?
The causes of CHIP are not yet fully understood, but researchers have already identified several factors that contribute to its development.
- Age: The risk of developing CHIP increases with age.
- Genetic factors: although CHIP is a newly emerged mutation, some people carry a genetic predisposition to developing CHIP.
- Lifestyle factors: an unhealthy lifestyle, such as smoking, poor diet, lack of exercise, and stress, may increase the risk of developing CHIP and other cardiovascular diseases.
- Chronic inflammation: Conditions that lead to chronic inflammation, such as autoimmune diseases, may increase the risk for developing CHIP.
Although the causes of CHIP are not fully understood, living a healthy lifestyle, managing chronic conditions, and avoiding risk factors can help reduce the risk of developing this condition. Early detection and monitoring of CHIP also appears to be important for the prevention and treatment of serious conditions such as cardiovascular disease and blood cancer.
